Best time to visit Mallorca – Month By Month Guide
Each month in Mallorca offers something completely different. Whether you dream of sun-soaked beach days, lively festivals, mountain hikes and adventures or relaxing off-season escapes, there is always a reason to visit Mallorca. Since moving here, I find new charm every month and genuinely now love the quieter winter months, as they offer so much more than winters used to. If I’m honest Mallorca in winter doesn’t really feel like winter at all. Let me break it down in my month-by-month guide so you can plan your perfect getaway.

It is the perfect time to take in the local traditions, relax and enjoy the landscapes.
January – A Busy Start
Weather – Mild and cool at times with daytime highs of 14 degrees. Sit in a sunny spot and it feels much warmer. The nights are cold at around 6 degrees.
January starts with the tail end of the festive season; all the Christmas markets and festivities continue into January until the pinnacle event of the 3 Kings celebrations on the 5th of January. Take in the colourful 3 Kings parades around the island as they arrive by boat to cheers and throw sweets for the children.
Celebrate Sant Antoni, the patron saint of animals, with bonfires and demons in mid-January, closely followed by Sant Sebastia celebrations, the patron saint of Palma, with a combination of parades, concerts and more bonfires.
Make the most of the quiet village charm and visit Fornalutx or Valldemossa.
Enjoy a scenic hike in the Traumuntana mountains whilst the temperatures are comfortable and the days are bright and sunny.
February – Almond Blossom Season
Weather – Mild daytime temperatures of 15 degrees.
Celebrate the Fira de la Flor d’Ametler in Son Servera in the first week of February as the Almond blossoms are in full bloom, with fairs and markets. You will find stalls selling various products made from almonds, almond wood, and the blossom itself. As well as displays of equipment used to harvest and prepare almonds, whilst traditional folk music is played by strolling musicians.
Take a scenic bike ride or drive through the blossom-lined countryside.
Explore Palma’s attractions without the busy crowds.
March – Spring Awakening
Weather – Temperatures now rise to around 18 degrees.
Celebrate Balearics Day on the 1st of March with a wide variety of activities across the island, with parades, traditional dress, performances, street parties, food events, and art exhibitions.
Depending on how easter falls March usually see the colourful Sa Rua Carnivals fill the streets to mark the start of Lent with fancy dress, more street parades and live music.
The spring equinox brings longer, sunnier days. As spring is in full swing now, the island starts to slowly reopen.
Perfect weather for outdoor adventures like cycling and walking.
Visit Mondrago National Park to take in the beautiful lush spring landscapes.
April – Easter & Early Beach Days
Weather – Pleasant and sunny with highs around 20 degrees.
Semana Santa (Holy Week) is the Easter celebration; these processions are steeped in tradition and are quite moving; find them in Palma and villages all around the island.
Easter is the official start of the season, and it sees the influx of visitors for the Easter holidays and the reopening of many of the bars, restaurants, and attractions.
Visit some of the beautiful coves and calas whilst they are still quiet.
May – Mediterranean Perfection
Weather – Warm and sunny with highs around 23 degrees.
Mallorca starts to come alive with flowers and greenery, and the beaches remain peaceful before the arrival of the summer crowds.
Enjoy the Pollenca weekend-long wine fair, where you can enjoy sampling wines from many of the island’s vineyards.
This is a great time to explore the Cabrera Archipelago, a marine reserve teeming with wildlife.
June – The Start Of the summer
Weather – Highs reach 27 degrees, and the sea is warm.
This was always my favourite time of year to visit Mallorca. With perfect temperatures, long sunny days and not too many crowds, it has it all.
Experience the Sant Joan celebrations with beach parties and bonfires, this is a popular bank holiday event at Summer Solstice.
Mallorca Live is a popular 2-day festival that brings music and arts to the island.
Visit one of the many farmer’s markets that are overflowing with fantastic seasonal produce like cherries and figs.
Book tickets to the Mallorca ATP Tennis Championships if you are a tennis fan, it has attracted some big-name players over the years.
July – Peak Summer Vibes
Weather – Hot and sunny, with temperatures around 30 degrees.
The island is buzzing with tourists at this time of the year, from morning until night. The holiday atmosphere is vibrant and there is so much to enjoy.
The weekly markets around the island are great to visit for local produce and unique gifts.
Enjoy a beach day and snorkelling in the beautiful Cala Santanyi.
Take a sunset boat cruise along the coastline.
August – Busy & Vibrant
Weather – Hot and sunny, with temperatures around 31 degrees, late August can experience some storms.
It is the busiest and hottest month on the island. All the beach clubs host summer parties and restaurants, and summer events are in full swing, so be sure to plan and book ahead.
Keep your days simple and enjoy local cuisine at the beachside chiringuitos.
For a break from the searing summer heat, visit the beautiful Caves of Drac.
Cool down with water sports, available at most big beaches, from paddle boarding to jet skiing.
September – Summers Last Hurrah
Weather – Warm and sunny with temperatures around 28 degrees; the sea is warm at its warmest now.
This is a lovely month to visit Mallorca if you prefer fewer crowds. The beaches and restaurants are less crowded, and everything starts to feel calmer.
The grape season kicks off, so visit the Binissalem wine fair, a fantastic event to celebrate the grape harvest with wine tasting and events such as grape treading, grape fights, music, and performances.
Santa Ponsa also celebrates the Fiesta Del Rei en Jaume with a popular event to commemorate the landing of King Jaime, with a fiesta and mock battles.
October – Autumn Serenity
Weather – Enjoy lovely warm days with highs of 23 degrees and cooler evenings.
This is the perfect time of year for exploring the countryside and mountains. Go cycling inland and take in the picturesque landscapes.
The Autumn sunsets at this time of year are some of the most spectacular.
Join the Fira de Llucmajor traditional Autumn fair, which features food, crafts, and livestock exhibitions.
Olive harvest season begins, so book an olive-tasting tour.
November – Tranquility
Weather – Mild with daytime highs of around 18 degrees.
The low season offers peace and tranquillity and affordable accommodation, making it the perfect escape and a great time to visit Mallorca. Hotels in Palma are all still open making it the perfect city break to explore Palma’s museums and galleries or enjoy some shopping.
Day of The Dead is celebrated on the 1st of November with unique Mallorcan traditions.
December – Festive Cheer
Weather – Cool with highs of 15 degrees. and chilly evenings.
Visit the Christmas lights in Palma; the switch-on is celebrated with a fiesta of music and street performances.
Visit the Christmas markets, in Palma, Portals and Pueblo Espanol to take in the festive atmosphere and sample some seasonal delights.
Sant Francesc Convent in Palma hosts an impressive nativity display which is worth a visit.
Experience the cosy side of Mallorca and dine in some of the small traditional restaurants in Palma’s back streets.

Summary
Whatever the month or the season, Mallorca’s beauty and charm always has something magical to offer. Mallorca isn’t known as a winter destination but the Autumn and Winter months are so beautiful and ideal for getting out and about and exploring more of the island.
